Roberta Jane Schulz, 92, of Huntington, IN, died Thursday, Dec. 5, 2013, at 8:50 p.m. at The Heritage of Huntington.
Mrs. Schulz graduated from Westinghouse High School in 1939, later completing a one-year accelerated business curriculum and a speed shorthand class. She was employed by Westinghouse Electric as an executive secretary in the printing and publications divisions in Pittsburgh and Trafford, PA. She was later employed as a secretary at Huntington Hospital Home Health Care until retiring in 1986.
After retirement, she volunteered at the Vice Presidential Museum and Huntington Memorial Hospital, both in Huntington, until she moved to The Heritage of Huntington in 2008.
She was born Aug. 3, 1921, in Homewood, a suburb of Pittsburgh, PA, to Charles Henry and Maude Robertta Eicher Brinkhoff. She married Alan David Schulz on Aug. 19, 1947. Her husband preceded her in death on Feb. 3, 1978.
Survivors include three sons, Kurt Schulz, of Dayton, OH; Mark (Teresa Bennett) Schulz, of Sanford, NC; and Karl (Julie) Schulz, of Roanoke; a brother, Carl (Sallie) Brinkhoff, of Murrysville, PA; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Calling is Monday, Dec. 9, 2013, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson St., Huntington. A service will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2013, at 10 a.m., with Rev. John Richie and Rev. William Rapp officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Royal Cemetery, in Glenshaw, PA.
