Dorothy Mae Garretson, 96, of Warren, IN, and a former resident of Andrews, IN, died Thursday, Oct. 24, 2013, at 4:40 a.m. at Heritage Pointe, in Warren.
Mrs. Garretson graduated from Andrews High School in 1935 and worked as an office clerk at General Engineering, in Andrews, for 14 years. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Andrews, where she served as a Sunday school teacher, and was a member of the Lioness Club.
She was born Oct. 5, 1917, in Huntington to Ernest C. and Edith Schertinger Carrouthers. She married Benjamin O. Garretson on April 13, 1941, in Andrews, and he preceded her in death on June 4, 1998.
Survivors include a son, Lyle (Saundra) Garretson, of Moore Haven, FL; three grandchildren, Michael E. Garretson and Bradley A. Garretson, both of Fort Wayne, and Chad D. (Sherry) Garretson, of Cloverdale; seven great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Calling is Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2013, from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m., with a service following at 3 p.m. at the Heritage Pointe Chapel, in Warren. Rev. Edwin Clark will officiate. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery, in Andrews.
