For the second time this season, the Huntington University men's soccer team outlasted an opponent in overtime to seal a big win as the Foresters topped Marian University, 2-1 on Saturday, Oct. 5.
Horraine Lewis scored off a corner kick just six minutes into OT to help the Foresters improve to 6-5-2 overall, 2-1-2 in league play.
Neither team let the delayed start due to lightning squelch the intensity of the match. The night featured a combined 34 shots with Marian holding the slight edge, 18-16. The Knights enjoyed nine shots on frame to Huntington's five but on this given night, the visitors made the most of their opportunities to snag the victory.
Scott Murray registered the game's first goal in the fifth minute of action as Isaac Wust laced a ball into the box, where Murray beat his defender to the ball in an all-out sprint to bury it from six yards out.
Marian's equalizer came just after halftime as the rest of regulation proved scoreless, setting up Lewis' clutch finish in OT.
Drew Mattingly registered the win in goal. He finished with eight saves.
