The Huntington University Peer Award recipients for September are Dr. Carla MacDonald, associate professor of social work, and Tom King, track and field coach.
Polly Tribolet, accounts payable/student payroll processor, passed the Peer Award to King.
"Tom King truly has a servant's heart," Tribolet says. "He has coached, taught, mentored and touched many lives in his 30 years at the university. Tom is a gentle, loving and godly man who exemplifies the mission of HU at the highest level. The campus community is blessed to have Tom King on its team."
Mark Hesting, maintenance technician, passed the award to MacDonald.
"I first came to know Carla from the delicious cheeseballs she's known for at Christmas time," Hesting says. "As someone outside of her department, one of the things I have observed is the great rapport that Carla has with the students. As I go from building to building fulfilling my duties, it is always uplifting to see the positive comments that students post on her board. This, to me, demonstrates tremendous respect that students have for her."
The Peer Award, which began in 2003, promotes acknowledgment and recognition of the outstanding efforts of Huntington University faculty and staff members. Award winners are chosen and recognized each month by their peers.
