The Huntington Bicycle Challenge is set for Saturday, Sept. 21, and organizers remind area motorists to be aware of bicyclists on the streets and roads.
Rose Meldrum, one of the event organizers, says she expects several hundred bicyclists to participate.
The Bicycle Challenge includes a 27-mile business team competition as well as four pleasure rides ranging in length from 10 to 39 miles.
The competitive riders will leave from Pathfinder Services, 2824 Theater Ave., Huntington, at 9:15 a.m. The pleasure riders will leave from the same location shortly thereafter.
The route for the competitive ride takes bicyclists to the Bippus area, and marshals will be located at intersections along that route to stop traffic for the riders.
Meldrum says motorists can expect to encounter bicyclists on area roads until about 3 p.m. Saturday.
A map of all routes is available online at www. pathfinderservices.org.
The Huntington Bicycle Challenge is a fund-raiser for Pathfinder Services and Parkview Home Health and Hospice.
