The Salvation Army will hold its Gift of Warmth Program on Sept. 23.
Used coats for children and adults may be donated until that date. There will also be a collection of hats, scarves and gloves. The Salvation Army has a goal of collecting 250 coats.
Last year, The Salvation Army was able to provide coats to more than 200 low-income individuals.
"It is so important to provide coats for the cold months that are coming, especially for kids," says Capt. Barbara McCauley. "They won't have to face cold mornings waiting for the school bus without something to keep them warm."
Donations of coats can be dropped off during office hours, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., at The Salvation Army, 1424 E. Market St., Huntington.
