A trio of young ladies adorned with sparkling crowns will be seen around Warren this weekend as they preside over many of the activities of the Salamonie Summer Festival.
Stephanie McElhaney, Savannah Jenkins and Shaylyn Suchicki won their crowns on Sunday, June 30, during the Salamonie Summer Festival Pageant at the Warren Church of Christ.
McElhaney, the 16-year-old daughter of David and Vicki McElhaney, was crowned festival queen.
First runner-up in the queen contest was Jessica Stucky, daughter of Greg and Kathy Stucky. Alysse Bustos, daughter of Virginia Cochrane and Griff Bustos, was second runner-up.
Allie Christian, daughter of Matt Christian and Patti Bustos, was named Miss Photogenic in the queen contest. Hayley Jo Haynes, daughter of Melinda and Joe Haynes, won Miss Congeniality honors.
Jenkins, who was named the festival's junior miss, is the 9-year-old daughter of Dustan and Desiree Jenkins.
Her court includes Alexis Weaver, daughter of Candace Timms, the first runner-up; and Hannah Warpup, daughter of Brian and Nicole Warpup, the second runner-up.
Sierra Tolen, daughter of John and Brenda Tolen, was named Miss Photogenic in the junior miss contest.
Suchicki, who won the festival princess title, is the 7-year-old daughter of Machelle and John Suchicki.
The first runner-up in that contest was Cambri Leas, daughter of Mick Leas and Shonna Leas. The second runner-up was Hailey Rains, daughter of Scott and Nicole Rains.
Leas was also named Miss Photogenic.
Also participating in the pageant were Leah Padgett, Fiona Sackett, Elley Leas, Lacey Nightenhelser and Matteson Padgett.
Miranda Bolinger and Caitlin Wright served as pageant chairmen.
The Salamonie Summer Festival gets underway today, July 4, with a 10 a.m. volleyball tournament at Tower Park, in Warren.
The Samuel L. Jones Breakfast, recognizing an outstanding Warren resident, serves as the official festival kick-off. The breakfast will be held on Friday, July 5, at 7:30 a.m. at Warren's Knight Bergman Center.
Other festival highlights are the parade through the center of Warren on Friday, July 5, at 7 p.m.; lawnmower races on Saturday, July 6, at 4 p.m. on the grounds of the Knight Bergman Center; and the festival finale fireworks on Sunday, July 7, at dusk at Tower Park.
