Civil War re-enactor Julie DuVall will present a program on Civil War nurse Mary Ann Bickerdyke during the March 6 meeting of the Huntington County Genealogy Society.
The meeting begins at 7 p.m. in the Indiana Room of the Huntington City-Township Public Library. The public is invited to attend.
Bickerdyke, who was born in Ohio in 1817, worked tirelessly to improve conditions for wounded soldiers during the Civil War. Her efforts earned her the nickname "Mother" Bickerdyke, and she eventually built more than 300 field hospitals. Later in her career, she became an advocate for United States veterans.
The library is located at 255 W. Park Drive, Huntington.
