Ruby Marie Muir, 94, of North Manchester, IN, and a former resident of Bippus, IN, died Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013, at the Peabody Healthcare Center, North Manchester.
Mrs. Muir graduated from Laketon High School in 1936 and retired from Heckman Bindery, North Manchester, after 41 years of service. She was a member of Eel River Community Church of the Brethren, Silver Lake, and a longtime member of and children's Sunday school teacher at the West Manchester Church of the Brethren, North Manchester. She was a 50-year member of Epsilon Sigma Chapter 1609 and was named Woman of the Year for Indiana by the sorority in 2001.
She was born Sept. 8, 1918, in Pleasant Township, Wabash County, to Lawrence and Mary Frantz Hoover. She married Robert H. Muir on April 29, 1955, and he preceded her in death on Dec. 10, 1978.
Survivors include a stepdaughter, Alice (Al) Pillsbury, of Huntington; two brothers, Russell (Joann) Hoover and Homer (Julia) Hoover, both of North Manchester; two sisters, Grace Metzger and Verna (Roger) Shively, both of North Manchester; a sister-in-law, LeeAnna Hoover, of North Manchester; three step-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.
A service will be held on Sunday, Jan. 6, 2013, at 2 p.m., with calling one hour prior to the service, at Timbercrest Chapel, 2201 East St., North Manchester. Rev. Andrew Sampson and Rev. Joan Deeter will officiate. Burial will be at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, North Manchester.
