The Huntington University women's basketball team let a 12-point slip away in the first half and wound up a77-67 loser to visiting Purdue-Calumet on Tuesday, Dec. 4.
A 3-pointer by Allison Greene with 8:20 left in the opening frame had the Foresters, 7-3, up 30-18, but Purdue battled back and went into halftime with a 40-38 lead.
The Peregrines pushed te margin as high as 12 points in the second half before treys by Greene and Lauren Meese help cut the margin to four with 2:23, but Purdue hit eighth straight free throws down the stretch to seal the deal.
Pazia Speed paced the Foresters with game-highs of 19 points and five assists. Greene added 17 points, shooting 3 for 4 from beyond the arc.
Purdue Calumet's leading scorers, Alex Starr and Kami Graber, went a combined 9 for 30, but managed 16 and 15 points, respectively. Madison Gervais notched a double-double with 13 points and 11 boards while Patrice McBee added 10 points to the team's offensive efforts.
The Peregrines had a slight edge in field goal percentage, sinking 26 of 65 shots for 40 percent to the Foresters' 24 for 62 effort for 38.7 percent.
Meese and Taylor Foley tied for HU rebounding honors with eight, but HU got blown away on the boards, 49-31.
