The Huntington North High School boys' varsity basketball team trailed visiting Warsaw at halftime, 33-25, but stormed back in the third to take the lead, and eventually the game, 58-53, on Saturday, Dec. 1.
Noah Reed led all scorers with 22 points, half of which came from the free-throw line, where he sank 11 of 12 attempts. Also coming up big for the Vikings was Kalvin Miller, who scored 11 points, Trenton Kern, who grabbed a game-high eight rebounds and Kyle Platt, who delivered on defense with three blocked shots.
Warsaw watched its lead evaporate after the half, when it scored only five points in the game's third frame to Huntington North's 14. The Vikings sealed the deal in the fourth, outscoring the Tigers 19-15.
Jared Bloom paced Warsaw with 17 points.
The teams finished the game with similar shooting numbers, as Huntington hit on 18 of 40 shots for 45 percent to Warsaw's 20 for 45 effort for a mark of 44.4 percent.
In junior varsity action, the Vikings edged the Tigers 52-51. Jordan Seabolt led Huntington North with 12 points, followed by Konner Platt with 11 and Derek Snyder and Grant Canady with nine points apiece. Canady also had nine rebounds.
