The fall installment of Huntington County property taxes is due on Tuesday, Nov. 13, Huntington County Treasurer Brenda Hamilton reminds taxpayers.
Taxes can be paid in the treasurer's office, located on the first floor of the Huntington County Courthouse, and at several financial institutions in Huntington County.
The treasurer's office is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The office will also be open on Saturday, Nov. 3, from 8 a.m. to noon to accept property tax payments.
The treasurer's office will be closed on Nov. 6 for Election Day and on Nov. 12 for Veterans Day.
Taxpayers who have the printed tax bill may also pay their taxes at 1st Source Bank, Beacon Credit Union, Bippus State Bank, First Farmers Bank & Trust, First Federal Savings Bank, Lake City Bank, iAB financial bank (formerly MarkleBank), PNC Bank and Wells Fargo Bank.
Payments may be made online or by phone, and a convenience fee is charged for this service. To pay by phone, have the tax bill ready and call 800-809-5849 up to 5 p.m. on Nov. 13. To pay online, visit www.huntingtontax.net  up to midnight on Nov. 13.
Payments may also be made by mail. Payments must be postmarked no later than Nov. 13 to be considered on time. Those requesting a receipt must include a self-addressed stamped envelope. If the payment is made by check, the check is considered a receipt.
Penalties will be charged for any taxes not paid by the Nov. 13 deadline. Penalties start at 5 percent and increase after 30 days or if taxes due previously remain unpaid.
After Nov. 13, the treasurer's office will be closed for about a week to process payments. Late payments may be dropped through the mail slot on the office door. The treasurer's office staff will not be available to assist taxpayers until after all on-time payments have been processed and balanced.
