Arthur L. Wilson

Arthur L. Wilson, 87, of LaFontaine, IN, and with family in Huntington County, died Friday, Nov. 27, 2020, at Hickory Creek at Huntington in Huntington.

Mr. Wilson graduated from Butler High School in 1952. He joined the U.S. Air Force and spent four years serving overseas in the Korean War and was honorably discharged. He organized VFW Post No. 1421 in Waynedale and served as All-State Commander from 1973 to 1974. He was a lifetime member of VFW Post No. 1421 and American Legion Post No. 85, in Huntington. He was also a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Fort Wayne. He owned and operated Mobile Brake and Mr. Brake in Fort Wayne in the 60s and 70s. In 1985, he began working in plant operations at Huntington Hospital for 11 years, retiring in 1996.

He was born on Nov. 12, 1933, in Butler, to Ralph and L. and Ollie F. Houser Wilson. He married Mary A. Elliott on March 21, 1958. She survives in LaFontaine.

Additional survivors include a son, Kirk L. Wilson, of Huntington County; two daughters, Leona Loretta (Robert) Burns, of Markle, and Sheri Lynn (James) Johnson, of Roanoke; a brother, Kendall (Phyllis) Wilson, of Fort Wayne; three sisters, Frances (Dick) Bourquin and Jean (Richard) Hilton, both of Fort Wayne, and Sharon Harrold, of Auburn; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life service will be held at Marion National Cemetery, 1700 E. 38th St., Marion, at a later date. Arrangements are entrusted to McKee Mortuary in North Manchester.
