Doris J. Judy Hale

Doris J. Judy Hale, 90, of Huntington, died Tuesday, Dec.1, 2020, at Markle Health and Rehabilitation in Markle.  

Mrs. Hale graduated the valedictorian of her high school class in Cambridge City and then attended Ball State University, earning a Master’s in Early Childhood Education.  She ran a private nursery school, Carolot, for 25 years. She was also a member of Central Christian Church and the Huntington Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

She was born on Nov. 11, 1930, in Richmond, KY, to Ray and Bulah Judy. She married Dr. Robert E. Hale in 1953. He preceded her in death on March 27, 2019.

Survivors include four daughters, Linda Urschel and Sharon Griner, both of Huntington; Nanette (Mark) Urschel, of Shelbyville, KY, and Jane (Mike Harris) Varney, of Huntington; three siblings; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Carolyn M. Hale; two sons-in-law, Jim Varney and Michael Urschel; and two infant grandchildren.

There will be no calling hours or public funeral. Burial will be at Pilgrim’s Rest Cemetery in Huntington. McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, Huntington, is entrusted with arrangements.
