Wanema ‘Joey’ Pierce

Wanema ‘Joey’ Pierce, 61, of Montpelier, IN, and with ties to Huntington, IN, died Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2020, at 10:13 p.m., at IU Health-Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie.

Mrs. Pierce attended Southern Wells High School. She was a member of the Cornerstone Community Church of the Nazarene in Montpelier and retired as the assistant manager at Gas America in Montpelier.

She was born on June 7, 1959, in Huntington, to Charles E. and Thelma R. Eads Staples.
 
Survivors include three daughters, Terri (Don) Stacy, of Bluffton, Heather (Henry) King, of Muncie, and Cassie (Jeffrey) James, of Montpelier; six sisters, Debbie (Bill) Lowe, of Gas City, Kristy (David) Davis, of Georgia, Elaine (Charlie) Sills, of Bluffton, Roxanne (Larry) Doublin, of Geneva, Rochelle (Gary) Jamison, of Bluffton and Carla Egly, of Bluffton; two brothers, Dana Staples, of Fort Wayne, and Gary Hayes, of Bradenton, FL; four grandchildren, Clayton Foss, of Bluffton, Jillian Clapper, of Bluffton, Layla James, of Montpelier and Ben James, of Montpelier; and three great-grandchildren.  

Calling will be held on Saturday, Nov. 21, 2020, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Walker & Glancy Funeral Home, 109 W. Windsor St., Montpelier. A funeral service will follow immediately, with Rev. Rich Hadley officiating. Those in attendance are asked to practice social distancing while at the funeral home.
