Robert G. Walter

Robert G. Walter, 94, of Huntington, IN, died Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2020, at Lutheran Hospital.

Mr. Walter was a 1944 graduate of Roanoke High School. He worked as a farmer his entire life. He was a Boy Scout leader and a member of Ageless Iron Antique Tractor Club. He attended Zion United Methodist Church.

He was born on Aug. 5, 1926, in Huntington, to William F. and Ellen F. Stetzel Walter. He married Lula Howenstine on Sept. 27, 1947, in Goblesville. She survives.

Additional survivors include two sons, Larry Walter, of Castle Rock, CO, and Terry (Lucinda) Walter, of Roanoke; a daughter, Dawn (Frank) Smith, of Fort Wayne; three grandchildren, Scott (Erin) Walter, of New Haven, Mark Smith, of Newton, IA, and Danielle Smith, of Fort Wayne; and two great-grandchildren.

Calling will be held on Monday, Nov. 16, 2020, from 2 to 4 p.m., and again from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel, 2901 Guilford St., Huntington. Those in attendance are asked to follow the CDC’s guidelines for social distancing and social gathering limits.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2020, at 11 a.m., with one hour of calling prior to the service, at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel. Interment will be at the Zion Cemetery.
