Lee R. Thompson

Lee R. Thompson, 82, of Springfield, TN, and formerly of Huntington, IN, died Thursday, Nov. 5, 2020, at NorthCrest Medical Center.

Mr. Thompson attended Purdue University before relocating to Evansville in 1964.  He was a former livestock inspector for the USDA before beginning as an apprentice at South Central Communications in Evansville. After a 41-year career, he retired as the Vice President of engineering for the company. For many years he operated sound equipment at his home church in Evansville. He most recently was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Nashville, TN.

He was born June 24, 1938, in Medina, OH. He was married to Barbara Jetmore Thompson for 61 years, and she survives.

Additional survivors include a son, Tim (Jill) Thompson, of Pleasant View; six grandchildren, Robert Slayden, Tim Slayden, Rebekah Thompson, Matthew Thompson, and Erica Thompson; and three great-grandchildren, Amory Thompson, Piper Thompson, and Margo Thompson.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Teresa Thompson Slayden.
