Sharon Sue (Donley) Vernon

Sharon Sue (Donley) Vernon, 82, of Huntington, IN, died Saturday, Oct. 10, 2020, at her home.

Mrs. Donley graduated from Logansport High School and attended North Manchester and Purdue University. She was a longtime member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Huntington, where she sang alto in the choir for more than 40 years and served on various committees. She was a member of the Emmaus community. She worked for Wilson Realty until one month prior to her death. She also had worked at The Party Shop, L&K Restaurant and as an elementary reading aide. Before moving to Huntington, she lived in Fort Wayne for more than a decade. In Fort Wayne she sang with the Southmore Singers and was a founding member of Epworth United Methodist Church. She worked at Miss and Masters children's clothing store and Zoli's Chalet.

She was born Oct. 29, 1937, in Logansport, to John and Mary Donley. She was married to Charles Vernon for 60 years before he preceded her in death.

Survivors include her children, Tami (Jim) Ehinger, of Springville, Chuck (Janelle) Vernon, of Marion, Marda (Jeff) Johnson, of Indianapolis, Michelle (Brian) Kelly, of Scranton, PA, and Renee (Scott) Kirkpatrick,, of Huntington; a sister, Shirley (Richard) Harris, of Fort Wayne; 20 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

She was proceeded in death by a grandson, Justin Kirkpatrick.

Calling will be held on Thursday, Oct. 15, from 10 a.m. to noon, with a funeral service to follow at Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 W. Park Drive, Huntington. Burial will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Huntington. Those in attendance are asked to follow local recommendations for face covering and social distancing during all events.
