Mary E. Dungan

Mary E. Dungan, 98, of Heritage Pointe in Warren, IN, and formerly of Majenica, IN, died on Saturday, Sept. 26, 2020, at 11:28 p.m. at Heritage Pointe.  

Mrs. Dungan was a 1940 graduate of Warren High School and graduated from Ball State Teachers College and Colorado State Teachers College. She taught for 23 years in the Kendallville, Lafayette Center and Peru public school systems. She retired in 1967 after teaching for 23 years. She was a member of the Indiana State Teachers Association, Retired Indiana State Teachers Association, Purdue Extension County Chorus of Huntington County, Associated Churches of the Weekday Religious Education Program and Better Living Extension Club. She was also a member in the former Plum Tree United Church of Christ.

She was born on Feb. 3, 1922, in Warren, to Edith E. Johnson and Samuel H. Thompson.  She married Paul Montel, who preceded her in death on Sept. 28, 1963. She then married Charles I. Dungan, who preceded her in death on Aug. 28, 2010.

Survivors include a stepson, Harold E. (Jean) Dungan, of Greenfield; a step-grandson, Greg (Susan) Dungan, of Hamilton, OH; a step-granddaughter, Julie Dungan, of Huntington; and a step-great-grandson, Isaac Dungan, of Hamilton, OH.

Calling will be held on Saturday, Oct. 3, 2020, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at Glancy- H. Brown & Son Funeral Home, 203 N. Matilda St., Warren.

A funeral service will follow immediately after calling, with Chaplain Dick Case officiating.  Interment will follow next to her first husband, Paul, in the Graceland Cemetery in Claypool.
