Imogene L. Rittenhouse

Imogene L. Rittenhouse, 92, of Huntington, IN, died Monday, Sept. 7, 2020, at 9:55 p.m. at Miller’s Merry Manor in Huntington.

Mrs. Rittenhouse graduated from Chester High School in North Manchester in 1946 and graduated from Ravenscroft Beauty College in Fort Wayne in 1947. She owned Imy’s Beauty Shop in Bippus for 36 years. She was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church in Bippus, where she was part of the Women’s Missionary Fellowship. She was a member of both the Warren Township and Nite-n-Gals Home Extension Clubs. She was also a former member of the Rebekah Lodge in Bippus.

She was born on Feb. 22, 1928, in Laketon, to Cuba O. and Mabel J. Ebbinghouse Helvey. She married Ernest F. Rittenhouse on Nov. 8, 1947, in Liberty Mills, and he preceded her in death on April 10, 2001.

Survivors include two sons, Jeffrey J. (Angela) Rittenhouse, of Bippus, and Kevin G. Rittenhouse, of Huntington; a daughter, Deborah L. (William) Swihart, of Huntington;
a sister, Norma (Len) Suckle, of Scottsdale, AZ; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Steven D. Rittenhouse, and a daughter-in-law, Debra K. Rittenhouse.
    
Calling will be held Saturday, Sept. 12, 2020, from 10 a.m. to noon at Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 W. Park Drive, Huntington. A funeral service will immediately follow at noon at the mortuary with Rev. Barry Faucett officiating. Burial will be in Calvary United Methodist Church Cemetery in Bippus. Those in attendance are asked to follow local recommendations for face coverings and social distancing during all events.
