Adele Shinholt

Adele Shinholt, 83, of Van Buren, IN, died on Monday, Aug. 10, 2020, at her home in Van Buren.

She was born March 11, 1937, to Elmer Holm and Laverne Holmquist, and was married to Rex Shinholt, who preceded her in death.

Mrs. Stinholt graduated from Tyner High School and became an E.M.T. with Van Buren Medic 6. She was a member of the Liberty Baptist Church in Sweetser. She also worked as a custodian at Eastbrook Highschool and as a Chaplain Assistant at Marion General Hospital. She was a part of the Thursday Noon Joy Club and the Liberty Ladies Lunch and participated in the Church Mailing Ministry and the church choir.

Surviving include two sons, Jerry Ryggs, of Prince of Wales, Canada, and Robert (LaDonna) Ryggs, of Greer, SC; a daughter, Lynda (Craig) Pickering, of Swayzee; two step-sons, Jim (Debi) Shinholt, of Greentown, and Glen Shinholt, of Glen Burnie, MD; two step-daughters, Sue Shinholt of Indianapolis, and Cathy (Kevin) Lyons, of Marion; a brother, Gene Holmquist, of San Mateo, CA; two sisters, Arlene (Harold) Keb, of Plymouth, and Jackie (John) Vanderveldon, of Walkerton; 13 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Larry Ryggs; and a step-daughter, Laura Keen.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, Aug. 15, 2020, from 10 a.m. to noon at Liberty Baptist Church, 517 Church St., Sweetser.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, Aug. 15, at noon, at Liberty Baptist Church, 517 Church St., Sweetser. Rev. Terry Bishir will officiate. Interment will be in Gardens of Memory in Marion.
