John E. Emley Jr.

John E. Emley, Jr., 86, of Huntington, IN, died Monday, Aug. 10, 2020, at his residence in Huntington.

Mr. Emley attended Huntington Township High School and retired from Huntington Laboratories after 38 years of service.  He formerly owned a gas station on West Park Drive and had worked at Schacht Rubber and Hoppy’s Oil. He attended Huntington First Church of the Nazarene for many years and was a former member of the Moose Lodge 837.

He was born on Dec. 16, 1933, in Huntington, to John E. and Dorothy Schmidt Emley Sr. He married Lecie F. Pasko on May 30, 1970.  She survives and resides in Huntington.

Additional survivors include two sons, John Michael Emley, of LaFontaine, and Jimmy (Cindy) Emley, of Huntington; three daughters, Candy King, of Hot Springs, AR, Carrie (Bobby) Latham, of Vicksburg, MS, and Jennifer (Chris) Newton, of Huntington; seven grandchildren, Taylor Dowe, Dalton Emley, Aime Dowe, Haley Newton, Ella Newton, Zachary Newton; and 10 other grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one son, Shawn David Emley.

Calling will be held on Monday, Aug. 17, 2020, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Huntington First Church of the Nazarene, 1555 Flaxmill Rd., Huntington. The funeral service will immediately follow, with Rev. Bobby Kemp officiating. Burial will be at Gardens of Memory in Marion. McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
