Matthew "Matt" Lee Christman

Matthew "Matt" Lee Christman, 45, of Gas City, IN, and formerly of Huntington, IN, died Sunday, Aug. 2, 2020, at 12:28 a.m. at IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.

Mr. Christman was a 1993 graduate of Huntington North High School and graduated from Purdue University in 1997 with a bachelor's degree in engineering. He was a civil engineer at IMI for 23 years, and also taught industrial technology at Ivy Tech. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church where he served as the religious education director and was a member of the Knights of Columbus.

He was born May 30, 1975, in Huntington, to John and Nondus Fuhrman Christman, and they survive. He married Christina Maria Fowerbaugh on Jan. 2, 1999, and she survives.  

Additional survivors include two daughters, Alexandria L. (Kaleb Moore) Christman and Marianne L. Christman, both of Gas City; seven sons, Luke M. Christman, Benjamin E. Christman, Nicholas L. Christman, Joseph A. Christman, Gabriel J. Christman, Marcus J. Christman and Vincent F. Christman, all of Gas City; his grandmother, Shirley Fuhrman; sisters, Lauren E. (Eric) Till, of Roanoke, and Allison M. (Jon) Voght, of Warren; a brother-in-law, Pat Teusch, of Huntington; father-in-law, Mark Fowerbaugh; and mother-in-law, Janet Fowerbaugh.

Calling will be held on Friday, Aug. 7, 2020, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main St., Gas City, with a rosary service at 7:30 p.m.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, Aug. 8, 2020, at 11 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church, 325 E North “A” St., Gas City, with Rev. Christopher Roberts officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the family for the care of Mr. Christman’s children.
