Mary Francis Music Long

Mary Francis Music Long, 76, of Roanoke, IN, died on Monday, July 6, 2020, at 4:50 a.m. at her home.

Mrs. Long was a member of Roanoke Baptist Church in Roanoke, where she worked in the church nursery for many years. She worked at Utrad, Fisher’s Engineering, Huntington Glass, Pyle’s Speakers and Huntington Nursing Home, all in Huntington, and she worked as a private in-home caregiver in Roanoke. She was also a homemaker.  

She was born May 6, 1944, in Paintsville, KY, to Thomas Jefferson and Stella Saddler Music. She was married on July 25, 1964, to Toby Long, who survives and resides in Roanoke.

Additional survivors include three sons, James Long, of Huntington, IN, Shawn (Kathy) Long, of Fort Wayne, IN, and Eric (Amy) Long, of Hammond, IN; one sister, Juanita (Paul) Ely of Lima, OH; one brother, Ernest Ray “Bud” (Joyce) Music, of West Jefferson, OH; two brother-in-laws, Delbert Sloan, of Huntington, and Kanawha Long, of Kermit, WV; one sister-in-law, Janie Hack, of Gas City, IN; four grandchildren, Nichole Garrison, Zachariah (Rachel) Long, Lucas Long and Dustin (Cassi) Howell, all of Huntington; and a great-granddaughter.

Preceding her in death were one grandchild, Jesse Long and one great-grandchild, Riley Garrison.

Calling will be held on Friday, July 10, 2020, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. followed by the funeral service at 1 p.m. at Roanoke Baptist Church, located at 11015 Lafayette Center Rd., Roanoke. Rev. Mike Tarr and Dr. James Bachman will officiate.

A private family burial will follow the service at Covington Memorial Gardens, Fort Wayne.
