Melvin G. Tinkel

Melvin G. Tinkel, 92, of Huntington, IN, died May 8, 2020, at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne.

Mr. Tinkel graduated from Van Buren High School.  He served as a quartermaster in the United States Army during the Korean War. He retired from Fisher Body in Marion after 30 years of service. He was a Jehovah’s Witness.

He was born March 12, 1928, in Grant County to William H. and Levona V. Smith Tinkel. He married Faye A. Hargrove on Jan. 29, 1955, and she survives.

Additional survivors include a son, Michael (Naomi) Tinkel, of Huntington, IN; a daughter, Pamela L. (Robin) Reed, of Winder, GA; two sisters, Deardra Studebaker, of Alexandria, and Edith (John) Shroll, of Flatwoods, KY; four grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

There will be no calling or service hours.

A private burial will be held at a later date.
