Jay Marshall

Jay Marshall, 76, of Leesburg, FL, and formerly of Huntington County, IN, died Monday, March 30, 2020, at home after battling cancer for several years.

Mr. Marshall grew up on a farm in Huntington County. After college at Ball State University, he taught sixth grade in Marion. Upon moving to Florida in 1968, he began a career with Lake County Schools that spanned more than 42 years.  He taught history and psychology at Leesburg High School in the late 1960s and early 1970s before serving as a guidance counselor at Tavares High School.  Then, for nearly 30 years he was supervisor of student services for the Lake County Schools.

He was born Oct. 1, 1943. He married his wife, Claudia, 54 years ago, and she survives.

Additional survivors are a daughter, Cara (Mary) Marshall; four sisters, Rosemary Barnes, Ruth (Bob) Slusser, Lois (Max) Spahr and Phyllis Somers, all of Indiana; four brothers, Frank (Nancy) Marshall, Phil (Connie) Marshall, Lynn (Mae) Marshall and David (Nancy) Marshall, all of Indiana; and a granddaughter, Annakiya Marshall, of Massachusetts.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
