Edna M. Newman

Edna Mae Newman, 90, of rural La Fontaine, IN, died Wednesday, March 11, 2020, at 10:56 a.m., at Wellbrooke of Wabash.

She was a 1947 graduate of LaFontaine High School. She worked 25 years at Kroger Egg in Wabash until it closed in April 1982. She was a member of the Washington Street Wesleyan Church in Wabash and since its closure, had attended the Pilgrim Holiness Church in Marion.

She was born Feb. 22, 1930, in Wabash County to Leo and Ellen L. Pegg Futrell. She married Wilbur D. Newman in Wabash on June 21, 1959, and he preceded her in death Nov. 14, 2008.

She is survived by a son, Greg (Regina) Newman, of La Fontaine, and Kimberly A. Newman, of Phoenix, AZ; a stepson, Jerry Newman, of North Manchester; two sisters, Grace Sirk, of Mattawan, MI, and Margaret Bigger, of LaFontaine; a brother, Charles (Norma) Futrell, of Kalamazoo, MI; a granddaughter, Amy (Darran) Cornett, of Milton, FL; three stepgrandchildren, Diane Newman, Tammy (Brad) Morris and Kelly (Anthony) DeLaughter; five stepgreat-grandchildren

Calling is Monday, March 16, 2020, from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Ave., Wabash. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, March 17, 2020, at 10:30 a.m.,  with Rev. Steve Hudson and Rev. Phil Harris officiating. Burial will be in Gardens of Memory Cemetery, in rural Huntington County.

Preferred memorial is the Pilgrim Holiness Church, Marion.
