Carol A. Beal

Carol Ann Beal, 81, of Syracuse, IN, and having ties to Uniondale, IN, died Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2020, at 9 a.m. at her home.

Mrs. Beal graduated valedictorian from Ossian High School in 1956. She graduated in 1959 from Parkview School of Nursing in Fort Wayne with a registered nurse degree. She worked at Lutheran Hospital, East Allen County Schools, Lawton Nursing Home and retired after 10 years from Visiting Nurse Hospice, all in Fort Wayne, as a registered nurse. After living most of her life in Fort Wayne, she retired to Fort Myers, FL, and Syracuse in 1999.

She was a member of Avalon Missionary Church in Fort Wayne, where she sang in the choir and was part of the women’s ministry. She also attended the First Church of the Nazarene in Fort Myers, FL.

She was born July 7, 1938, in Bluffton to Alvin and Lola Brown Follis. She married John R. Beal on Aug. 30, 1959, in Uniondale, and he survives.

Additional survivors are two daughters, Julia (Mario Jeter) Beal, of Syracuse, and Jennifer (John) Berg. of Fort Collins, CO; a son, Greg (Jennifer) Beal of Fort Wayne; and seven grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a grandson, Alvin Elliott Berg.

Calling is Saturday, Jan. 18, 2020, at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse. A memorial service will immediately follow at noon at the funeral home, with Rev. Bob Jarboe officiating. Private burial will take place in the Oak Lawn Cemetery in Ossian.
