Ruth A. Conkle Wasmuth

Ruth A. Conkle Wasmuth, 91, of Huntington, IN, died Saturday, Jan. 4, 2020, at 12:11 a.m. at Heritage Pointe of Huntington.

Mrs. Wasmuth was a member of SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Huntington. She worked for a local ENT specialist before her first marriage, then became a housewife.  After her husband’s death, she worked at Central School cafeteria.

She was born Jan. 16, 1928, to George and Isabelle Karst Yaste. She married Norman Conkel on April 4, 1955, and he preceded her in death on July 23, 1984. She later married James Wasmuth on Oct. 6, 1989, and he preceded her in death on April 7, 2011.

Survivors include a son, Mark Conkle, of Huntington; two daughters, Mary Jane (Kelly) Pratt and Julie (Christopher) Campbell, both of Huntington; four stepson, James (Gwenn) Wasmuth, of Kokomo; Richard Wasmuth, of Columbia City; David (Ann) Wasmuth, of Huntington; and Doug Wasmuth, of Fort Wayne; two stepdaughters, Dianne (Sammuel) Greuler, of Auburn, and Sharrie (Dale) Tafelski, of Rochester; five grandchildren, Amy (Joe) Lopes, Adam Whiteman, Kylie Campbell, Kayla Campbell and Kortney Campbell; 13 stepgrandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Calling is Friday Jan. 10, 2020, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel, 2901 Guilford St., Huntington. A Rosary service will be held at 7:30 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held Saturday Jan. 11, 2020, at 10 a.m. at SS. Peter and Paul’s Catholic Church, 860 Cherry St., Huntington IN 46750. Interment will be at the Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Huntington County.
