Dean D. Abbott

Dean Duane Abbott, 74, of North Manchester, IN, and formerly of Huntington, IN, died June 11, 2019, at 6:15 p.m. at his residence.

Mr. Abbott graduated from Northfield High School in 1963. He owned a construction and carpentry company and also owned a hardware, bait and tackle shop in Michigan. While living in Michigan, he belonged to various car clubs. He attended St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church.  

He was born Dec. 17, 1944, in Fort Wayne to Glenn R. and Elizabeth Price Abbott. He married Carol Reust on June 5, 1970, and she survives.

Additional survivors include a son, Robert (Karen) Abbott, of Tampa, FL; four daughters, Sherrie (Thomas) Spann, Deanna (Brian) Niccum and Kristie (Chris) Miller, all of North Manchester, and Tracy (Josh Meyers) Walters, of Fort Wayne; two brothers, Carl (Rachel) Abbott, of South Whitley, and Randall Abbott, of Urbana; a sister, Glenda (Rick) Armstrong, of Fort Wayne; 14 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Calling is Friday, June 14, 2019, from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. at McKee Mortuary, 1401 Ind.-114W, North Manchester. A funeral Mass will be held Saturday, June 15, 2019, at 11 a.m. at St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church, 1203 Ind.-114E, North Manchester, with Rev. Andrew Curry officiating. Burial will be at Oaklawn Cemetery, 600 Beckley St., North Manchester.
