Madeline R. Kilgore

Madeline Ruth Kilgore, 95, formerly of Swayzee, died Friday, April 19, 2019, at 3:55 p.m. at Heritage Pointe in Warren.

Mrs. Kilgore was a 1941 Swayzee High School graduate. She and her husband owned and operated Kilgore’s Market for 40 years, from 1943 to 1983. She was a long-time member of Swayzee United Methodist Church, charter member of Swayzee Town and Country and belonged to the Swayzee Reading Club.

She was born in Swayzee to Raymond E. and Alta B. Boswell Sprinkle. She married Gene Kilgore on April 25, 1943, and he preceded her in death in 2017.

She is survived by a son, William G. (Evelyn) Kilgore, of Fort Wayne; two daughters, Sandra K. (Kenneth) Castor, of Grant, AL, and Janet F. (Jim) Corn, of Delphi; eight grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

Calling is Tuesday, April 23, 2019, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, Rybolt Chapel, 314 N. Washington St., Swayzee. A funeral service will follow immediately after calling at 11 a.m., with Rev. Ginny Soultz officiating.  Burial will follow in Converse Cemetery.
