Cora E. Dixon

Cora Elaine Dixon, 83, of Gas City, IN, and having ties to Van Buren, IN, died Saturday, March 16, 2019, at 3:43 a.m. at Twin City Healthcare in Gas City.

Mrs. Dixon was a 1954 graduate of Van Buren High School. She had her first job at the Van Buren Appliance Factory and she would also babysit for several farming family’s children in the community. She worked several years at the Holiday Inn in Marion and retired from Café 37 as a cook. She was formerly in the Red Hatters and was a clown for “Smile Seekers.”

She was born Aug. 1, 1935, to John Morris and Dorothy Adkinson Long. She married Allen Ray Dixon on May 31, 1957, in Grant County, and he survives.

Additional survivors include three sons, Allen (Connie) Dixon, of Gas City; Jeff (Cindy) Dixon, of Bellbrook, OH; and Joe Dixon, of Asheville, NC; two sisters, Nancy Harlan and Linda McCormick, both of Fairmount; a brother, Bill Long, of Florida; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Calling is Friday, March 22, 2019, from 10 a.m. to noon at Ferguson & Glancy Funeral Home, 201 W. Main St., Van Buren. A service will immediately follow at noon, with Rev. Carter Lloyd officiating. Burial will take place at Gardens of Memory in rural Marion.
