Robert P. Lockwood

Robert P. Lockwood, 69, of Fort Wayne, and the former president and publisher of Our Sunday Visitor, in Huntington, IN, died Monday, March 4, 2019, at his home.

Mr. Lockwood graduated from Fairfield University in Connecticut with a bachelor's in history. He was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church and the Catholic Press Association. He began his career for Our Sunday Visitor as an editor and after 28 years he retired as president and publisher. He then moved to Arch Diocese of Pittsburg, PA, and began a career as the communications director. He was an award winning Catholic journalist and author.

He was born in Yonkers, NY, to Albert F. and Evelyn Lockwood. He married Cindy Nowels on July 21, 1973, and she survives.

Survivors include a son, Ryan Lockwood, a daughter, Theresa (Benjamin) Ruppert; two brothers, Albert Francis (Jane) Lockwood and Anthony (Mary) Lockwood; a sister, Annamay (Joseph) Gambino; and three grandchildren, Liam Ruppert, Ethan Ruppert and Jonah Ruppert.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, March 15, 2019, at 11:30 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, with calling one hour prior to the Mass. Burial will be in Catholic Cemetery.
