Robert L. Krider

Robert Leon Krider, 87, of Huntington,  died Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2019, at 4:45 a.m. at his residence.

After graduation from Huntington High School, Mr. Krider was employed by the Erie Railroad as a coal fireman. He enlisted in the United States Navy Seabees and served from 1951to 1954, attaining the rank of 2nd class petty officer. He was stationed in Okinawa, Korea, Japan and Iceland during his four years in service. Upon his discharge from the military, he returned to work on the Erie Railroad in Huntington. The last five of the 17 years that he was working on the railroad he also worked for a water chemical company, Mitco Inc. of Grand Rapids, MI, working in northwest Ohio. He left both employers and enrolled in Baptist Bible Seminary in Johnson City, NY, to study the Bible. In 1971, he transferred to Western Baptist Bible College in Salem, OR, and graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in pastoral theology.

He was born Aug. 13, 1931, in Indianapolis to Leonard and Irene Rittenhouse Krider. He married Carolyn Bonebrake on April 14, 1951, in Oxnard, CA, and she survives.

Additional survivors include two sons, David Lee (Pricilla) Krider, of Sebring, FL and John Clinton (Claudia) Krider, of Huntington; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Lonny Lynn.

Calling is Monday, Feb. 18, 2019, from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at The Chapel, 2505 W. Hamilton Rd., Fort Wayne. A memorial service will be held Monday, Febr. 18, 2019 at 2 p.m. at the church, with Rev. Gary Endersby officiating. Interment will be at the Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Marion.
