Rev. John A. Pattison

Rev. John A. Pattison, 87, of Warren, IN, died Friday, Feb. 1, 2019, at 5:17 p.m. at Heritage Pointe in Warren.

Mr. Pattison was a 1949 graduate of Mississinewa High School. He received his B.A. degree from Taylor University in 1957, his Master of Divinity at Garret Theological in 1961 and a Master of Sacred Theological in 1971 from Christian Theological Seminary.
Rev. Pattison was a pastor and elder in the North Indiana Conference (now known as The Indiana Conference) of the United Methodist Church, from where he retired in 1994. He served United Methodist Churches  throughout Indiana, including Keystone, Sims, LaFontaine, Topeka, Summitville, Anderson, Muncie, Indianapolis (Speedway), Wakarusa, Somerset, Twelve Mile, Nine Mile and Van Buren. After retirement he served Elwood Grace United Methodist Church, was visitation pastor at Huntington Trinity United Methodist Church and served as a chaplain for 15 years at Heritage Pointe in Warren.

He was a member of the Masonic Lodge 711 F&AM in Van Buren, past master of the lodge and member of the Scottish Rite Valley and Mizpah Temple of the Shrine, both of both Wayne. He was a member of the American Association of Pastoral Counselors for many years. He logged more than 5,000 hours volunteering for the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's research.

He was born Feb. 10, 1931, in Hartford City to Harley S. and Bertha Rea Pattison. He married Delores J. "Dee" Taylor on July 3, 1952, in Muncie, and she survives.

Additional survivors include two sons, John A. (Kim) Pattison II, of Perishing, and Rev. Dr. G. Scott (Anita) Pattison, of Fort Wayne; a daughter, Rebecca (Rev. Steve) Fritchman, of Jonesboro; two brothers, James (Sue) Pattison, of Jacksonville, FL, and David (Lana) Pattison, of Gas City; six grandchildren, Arin (Josh) Skaggs, of Erlanger, KY; Luke Pattison, of Bloomington; Zachary (Kirsty) Pattison, of Lafayette; Matthew Pattison, of Fort Wayne; and Megan Fritchman, of Kokomo; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Traci Jeanne Pattison.

Calling is Friday, Feb. 8, 2019, from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Heritage Pointe Applegate Chapel, 801 Huntington Ave., Warren. A Masonic service will be held Friday at 7 p.m. Additional calling will be Saturday, Jan. 9, 2019, from 10 a.m. to the 11 a.m. service at the chapel. Rev. Paul C. Burris and Gerald Moreland will officiate. Interment will follow in the Riverside Cemetery in Gas City.
