Frances L. Simmers

Frances L. Simmers, 97, of Roanoke, IN, died Thursday, Oct.18, 2018, at 12:27 a.m. at Lutheran Life Village of Kendallville.

Mrs. Simmers graduated from Roanoke High School in 1938. She attended beauty college and was the owner of Topper Beauty Shop in Roanoke for 48 years. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Roanoke.

She was born Oct. 30, 1920, in Roanoke to Lorwell “Bing” and Gladys Knowlton Eddingfield. She married Paul J. Simmers on Feb. 28, 1944, in Muncie, and he preceded her in death in 1983.

Survivors include two daughters, Jan (Michael) Hoffman, of Huntington, and Dee A. Simmers, of Roanoke; two sons, Jay (Danita) Simmers, of Kendallville, and Alan (Sharon) Simmers, of Roanoke; a sister, Ida May Gerber, of Wabash; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held Monday, Oct. 22, 2018, at 2 p.m. in Glenwood Cemetery in Roanoke.
