Jose M. Galvan

Jose Maria Galvan, 88, of Fort Wayne, IN, and having family in Huntington, IN, died July 11, 2018, in VA Northern Indiana Health Care System, Fort Wayne.

Mr. Galvan was a lifelong resident of Converse. He worked for Red Gold at one time. He then went to work for Morgan Packing Company in Converse. He was a board member for Izaak Walton League.

He was born Feb. 25, 1930, in Laredo, TX, to Carlos and Daria Gonzales Galvan. He married Josephine Ybarra on Nov. 24, 1956, and she survives.

Also surviving are four sons, Humberto (Heidi) Galvan, of Huntington; Luis A. (Griselda) Galvan, of Yuma, AZ; Jose (Jeri Martin) Galvan Jr., of Elwood; and Carlos (Lisa Cook) Galvan, of Marion; two daughters, Lydia (Lee) Garza, of Mission, TX; Yolanda Galvan, of Marion; a brother, Francisco Galvan, of Converse; three sisters, Guadalupe Morales and Andrea Guerra, both of San Antonio, TX, and Oralia Galvan, of Somerset, TX; 16 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Calling is Monday, July 16, 2018, from 4 p.m. to 8 pm in Owen-Weilert-Duncan Funeral Home, Larrison-Martin Chapel, 308 E. Marion St., Converse. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 17, 2018, at 11 a.m. Burial with military honors will immediately follow in Marion National Cemetery, 1700 E. 38th St., Marion.
