Samuel D. Deeds

Samuel David Deeds, 83, of Carmel, IN, and having ties to Huntington, IN, died Saturday, July 7, 2018.

Mr. Deeds graduated from Morton High School in 1952. He worked at the General Motors Fisher Body plant in Marion.  He was one of the first employees hired at the plant in 1956 and retired in 1986 after 30 years of service. He served his church in many capacities during his 47 years as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Indiana as well as in Colorado.  He also served in the temples in Chicago and Denver for many years.

He was born Dec. 17, 1934, in Huntington, to Glenn Everett and Ella Rosetta Pardue Deeds. He married Velma June “Susan” Emerich on Aug. 2, 1959, in Huntington and she preceded him in death on June 22, 1977. He married Karen Sue Kidd on Oct. 24, 1978, at the Washington D.C. Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and she survives.

Additional survivors include two daughters, Debbie Bronson and Pam (Steve) Tucker, both of Kokomo;  two sisters, Dorothy Keplinger and Marjorie Brannon, both of Huntington; six grandchildren, Adam France, of Columbus, OH; Samuel (Adrian) France, of Fort Campbell, KY; Jessica Figueroa, Jacob Tucker and Brian Tartal, all of Kokomo; and Kimberly (Bryan) Brown, of Taylorville, IL; six great-grandchildren.

A funeral service was held Wednesday, July 11, 2018, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Marion. Burial followed at Gardens of Memory in Marion.

Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, is in charge of arrangements.
