Walter D. 'DeWayne' Miller

Walter D. “DeWayne” Miller, 70, of Huntington, IN, died Monday, June 11, 2018, at 5:30 a.m. at his home.

Mr. Miller served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He worked as a manufacturing supervisor at Orton Crane in Huntington, retiring in 2014 after 40 years of service. He was a past member of the American Legion and Eagles Lodge in Huntington.

He was born Sept. 10, 1947, in Huntington to Walter A. and Francis L. Denton Miller. He married Wei Song on June 13, 2010, in China. His wife survives.

Additional survivors include two daughters, Terri (Shawn) Mains, of LaGrange and Laura (Jonathon) Tucker, of Columbia City; two sons, DeWayne A. Miller and Travis W. Miller, both of Huntington; a stepson, Yong Long Lu (Zhao Xia Zhang), of Kai Feng, China; a brother, Albert A. Miller, of Fort Wayne; two sisters, Donnabele M. Haneline and Jean (Pete) Higgenbotham, both of Huntington; 22 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Calling is Friday, June 15, 2018, from 10 a.m. to noon with funeral services following immediately at noon at Bailey-Love Mortuary, Huntington. Rev. Pete Higgenbotham will officiate and military rites will be performed by VFW Post 2689 of Huntington. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Huntington at a later date.
