Jack D. Snowden

Jack D. Snowden, 90, of Huntington, IN, died Tuesday, May 1, 2018, at 2:30 p.m.  at Heritage Pointe of Huntington.

Mr. Snowden was a 1946 graduate of Huntington High School. He was the mill manager for Simpson Grain Co. in Huntington County for 16 years. He then spent five years working in sales for Murphy Products Co., two years as the divisional sales manager for Indiana. He entered the life insurance business in 1968 as a special agent for the Indianapolis Life Insurance Co., earning the title of “Million Dollar Round Table Member” and several awards. He was a life member of the Indiana Leaders Club and was elected Huntington County Commissioner in 1972.

He began J&M Sign Company in 1981 and sold the business to his grandson, Kraig Snowden, in 2006. He was a lifetime member of Huntington Church of the Nazarene. He was involved in the denomination by serving on various boards locally, on the district and on the Church of the Nazarene General Board. He carried on his father-in-law’s ministry, the Nazarene Band, leading and playing trombone.

He was born April 7, 1928, in Huntington to Benjamin and Anna Orr Snowden. He married Maradel Pasko on Jan. 15, 1950, in Huntington, and she survives.

Additional survivors include two sons, Lonnie Snowden and Kim (Kathy) Snowden, both of Huntington; three brothers Ned (Mary) Snowden, of Muncie; Jerry (Sharon) Snowden, of Elkhart; and his twin, Gene (Carol) Snowden, of Huntington; seven grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Kathie Halsey, and a grandson, Johnny Halsey.

Calling is Friday, May 4, 2018, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Huntington First Church of the Nazarene, 1555 Flaxmill Rd., Huntington. A funeral service will immediately follow at 6 p.m. Rev. Bobby Kemp officiating. Private burial will be in Star of Hope Cemetery in Huntington County at a later date.
