John E. 'Jack' Haecker

John Edwin "Jack" Haecker IV, 92, of rural Wabash, IN, and having relatives in LaFontaine, IN, died Wednesday, April 18, 2018, at 8:30 p.m. at Miller's Merry Manor East in Wabash.

Mr.  Haecker was a United States Army veteran. He was a press operator at Fisher Body in Marion 25 years, retiring Dec. 20, 1996. He was a member of Grace Fellowship Church and the Marion Sympathy Club.

He was born Aug. 28, 1925 in Massillon, OH, to John and Thelma Zintsmaster Haecker. He married Ruby W. Cole in Wabash County on Dec. 24, 1955; she preceded him in death on Nov. 9, 2005.

Surviving are two sons, John S. Haecker, of Wabash, and Sheldon (Marsha) Jones, of LaFontaine; and seven grandchildren, Marshall (Laurie) Jones, of Brownsburg; Justin (Megan) Jones, of Sugar Grove, IL; Rita (Mark) Crislip, of Van Lear, KY; Lisa Jones, of Roann; Scott Jones, of Kokomo; and Summer (Kerim) Tatlici and Stacy (Tom Padgett) Jones, both of Chicago, IL.

He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Sheila Haecker; a son, Sherman Jones; and a grandson, Shade Eviston.

Calling is Sunday, April 22, 2018, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Ave., Wabash. A funeral service will be held Monday, April 23, 2018, at 2 p.m. at the funeral home, with David Phillips officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Lawns Cemetery, Wabash.
