William F. 'Bill' Karst

William  F. “Bill” Karst, 89, of Goshen, IN, and formerly of Huntington, IN, died Thursday, April 12, 2018, at 11 p.m. at Courtyard Healthcare Center in Goshen, IN.

Mr. Karst served in the United States Army. After his time in the military he spent his career in the manufacturing business, retiring from Dana Corporation in 1991 after 33 years.  He was a member of the Cromwell-Kimmell Lions Club for 50 years and attended the Stone’s Hill Community Church in Ligonier.  

He was born Dec. 3, 1928, to Julius Thomas and Leatha Sloma Kline Karst in Huntington County. He married Doris Lorene Paul in Markle on March 1, 1949, and she preceded him in death on Oct. 24, 1989. He married Lorena May Marchand Davis in Whitley County on Feb. 14, 1992, and she preceded him in death on July 2017.

He is survived by a son, Jere Karst, of Albion; two daughters, Jeanine (Wayne) Garber, of Syracuse, and Jan Morr, of Kimmell;three stepsons, Roger (Debbie) Davis, of Larwill; Gary Davis, of Texas; and Randy (Laura) Davis, of Indianapolis; a stepdaughter, Jeanelle (Daniel Iavagnilio) Johnson of Ligonier; a sister, Rose (Bill) Arivet, of Huntington; a brother, Donald (Delores) Karst, of Huntington; eight grandchildren; 11 stepgrandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 29 step great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
 
He was also preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Connie Karst; and a stepdaughter, Debbie Davis.

Calling is Wednesday, April 18, 2018, from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Yeager Funeral Home, 1589 Lincolnway South, Ligonier. A funeral service will be held Thursday, April 19, 2018, at 2 p.m. at Stone’s Hill Community Church, 151 W. Stones Hill Rd., Ligonier. Rev. Joey Nelson will officiate. Private burial will take place at a later date at Sparta Cemetery.

Memorials are to the Cromwell–Kimmell Lions Club or to Stone’s Hill Community Church.
