Martin L. 'Marty' Chapin

Martin L. “Marty” Chapin, 77, of Huntington, IN, died Sunday, April 8, 2018, at 2:20 p.m. at his home.

Most of Mr. Chapin’s childhood was spent in Bridgeport, CT, before his family moved to Huntington. While in Huntington, he worked for Locke Steele Crane Company and Orton Crane Company. In 1980 he moved to Tulsa, OK. He retired in 2002 after more than 23 years as a crew chief in public works for the City of Broken Arrow, OK.

He was born Oct. 4, 1940, in Fayetteville, AR, to Lloyd and Viola Martin Chapin. He married his first wife, Sally Gentis, in Huntington. He later married Cleo “Marie” Worthy in Oklahoma, and after 11 years she preceded him in death in 2007.

Survivors include a son, Daniel W. (Teresa) Chapin, of Fishers; two daughters, Teresa Jo (Bub) Snyder and Janelle L. (Scott) Gard, both of Huntington; a brother, Gary (Janet) Chapin, of Broken Arrow, OK; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

A great-granddaughter preceded him in death.

Calling is Friday, April 13, 2018, from 10 a.m. to noon at Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 W. Park Drive, Huntington. A funeral service will immediately follow at noon at the funeral home, with Rev. Jeff Carrell officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Clear Creek Cemetery in Huntington County.
