Mildred P. Gray

Mildred P. Gray, 89, of Leesburg, IN, and having relatives in Andrews, IN, died Friday, March 9, 2018, at 10 a.m. at her home.

Mrs. Gray was a lifetime Kosciusko County-area resident, graduated in 1946 from Mentone High School, and attended Fort Wayne Business College. She retired from Wawasee Community School Corporation as cafeteria manager at North Webster School after 22 years of service. After retirement she worked part time for the North Webster Daycare for 10 years, Smith Walbridge Camp in Syracuse and volunteered at the North Webster Food Pantry. She was a former Girl Scout Leader in North Webster for 15 years.

She was a member of the North Webster United Methodist Church, was a Sunday school teacher for 30 years and a former member of the Backwater Friends.

She was born Oct. 9, 1928, in Fort Wayne to Paul P. and Pauline E. Ritter Lamprecht. She married Melvin L. “Ledru” Gray on June 10, 1949, in Bremen, and he preceded her in death on Sept. 19, 2015.

Survivors include two daughters, Carolyn (Glenn) Meeks, of Pigeon Forge, TN, and Melody (Dan) Ewald, of Leesburg; a son, Lynn Gray, of Leesburg; a brother, Paul Lamprecht, of Andrews; a sister in law, Marjorie Moneyheffer; a brother-in-law, Harold Baker; and two grandchildren, Eric Ewald and Casandra Ewald.

Calling is Tuesday, March 13, 2018, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Owen Family Funeral Home, Ind.-13 and CR500N, North Webster. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, March 14, 2018, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home, with Rev. Byron Kaiser and Robert Dailey officiating. Burial will follow in Mock Addition of the North Webster Cemetery.
