Alton 'Gene' Kendall

Alton "Gene" Kendall, 81, of Warren, IN, and formerly of Wabash, IN, died Sunday, Feb. 11, 2018, at 10:30 p.m. at Heritage Pointe in Warren.

Mr. Kendall was a 1954 graduate of Noble High School. He worked at North Central Co Op in Wabash for 42 years before retiring. He and his wife moved from Wabash to Heritage Pointe in Warren in 2015. He attended the College Corner Brethren Church in Wabash. He was a Mason at the Hanna Lodge 61 in Wabash.
He was born Feb. 11, 1937, in Wabash to Alton J. and Pauline Tomson Kendall. His mother died when he was a young boy, and his father later married Florence Smith, who helped raised Mr. Kendall. He married Brenda Stanley on Jan. 20, 1960, at Plummer’s Chapel in Huntington County, and she survives.

Additional survivors include a son, Kelly (Bryon Johnmeyer) Kendall, Kansas City, MO; a daughter, Chris (Ernie) Ortiz, of Fayette, AL; two brothers, Arthur Dale (Mary Lou) Kendall, of Roann, and Arlen (Dianna) Kendall, of Wabash; three
Grandchildren, Clark Ortiz, Heather Ortiz and Bailey (Alisha) Johnmeyer; and a great-grandchild.

Calling is Friday, Feb. 16, 2018, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Heritage Pointe Applegate Chapel, 801 Huntington Ave., Warren. A service to celebrate Mr. Kendall’s life will follow at 1:30 p.m., with Rev. Dick Case officiating. Interment will follow in the Gardens of Memory in Huntington County.
