Jean Ann Heiney

Jean Ann Heiney, 79, of Huntington, IN, died Thursday, Feb. 8, 2018, at 5:29 a.m. at Heritage Pointe of Huntington.

Mrs. Heiney was a 1956 graduate of Huntington High School. She retired from Public Service Indiana, now Duke Energy, in 1994. She worked as secretary in the music pepartment at Huntington College, now Huntington University, and as an administrative assistant at the Huntington County Chamber of Commerce. She was a member of St. Peter’s First Community Church in Huntington, where in years past she served as elder, past president of the council, trustee, past president of the women’s fellowship and was a founder of the Color Me New women’s retreat. She also sang in the choir and was a Sunday school teacher.

She was a past secretary of the Salvation Army Board of Directors, volunteered with Love in the Name of Christ, Merillat Center for the Arts, Forks of the Wabash and was past president and past national recording secretary of Sigma Eta Sorority Fine Arts Inc., past president of the “30” Home Extension Club and vice president of the Huntington County Extension Homemakers Club.

She was born July 18, 1938, in Huntington to Homer Glynn and Grace Kilander Biehl. She married Robert Paul Heiney on Sept. 6, 1958, in Huntington, and he survives.

Additional survivors include a daughter, Deborah Sue (Hal) Schwartz, of Markle; two sons, John Christopher Heiney, of Huntington, and Gregory Allen (Marci) Heiney, of Andrews; and four grandchildren, Zachary Ryan (Danielle) Schwartz, Robert Maxwell Schwartz, Johnathan Allen Heiney and Chelsea Marie Heiney.

Calling is Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2018, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 W. Park Drive, Huntington. A funeral service will be held Thursday, Feb. 15, 2018, at 10 a.m. at the mortuary, with one hour of visitation prior to the service. Rev. Zen Hess and Rev. Richard Strick will officiate. Burial will be in St. Peter’s First Cemetery in Huntington.
