Wendell W. 'Windy' Chaney

Wendell William “Windy” Chaney, 88, of Fort Wayne, IN, and formerly of Roanoke, IN, died Monday, Jan. 8, 2018, at Hospice Home.

Mr. Chaney served his country in the United States Air Force and was a member of the Eagles 1906 and Moose Lodge 1063. He was a retired truck driver for Food Marketing.

He was born in Roanoke to Merritt E. and Florence Aughenbaugh Chaney. His first wife, Marjorie Jane Lee, of Larwill, survives. His second wife, Jean Chaney, preceded him in death in 2008.

Other survivors include four sons, Wendell “Bill” Jr. (Denise) Chaney, of Columbia City; Mike (Phaedra) Chaney, of Pierceton; Gene Chaney, of Fort Wayne; and Robert Chaney, of Cromwell; two daughters, Jane Chaney, of Columbia City, and Jan Chaney, of Fort Wayne; a sister, Deloris (Clarence) Thompson, of Columbia City; 17 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by a great granddaughter, Addisyn.

Calling is Sunday, Jan. 14, 2018, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Covington Funeral Home, 8408 Covington Rd. A funeral service is Monday, Jan. 15, 2018, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, with calling one hour prior. Burial will be at Covington Memorial Gardens.
