Harold A. Waikel

Harold A. Waikel, 75, of Huntington, IN, died Friday, Jan. 5, 2018, at 7:10 a.m. at his residence.

Mr. Waikel was a 1960 graduate of Huntington High School. He served in the United States Navy for four years. He retired from the Wire Mill at GE after more than 38 years of service. He was a member of VFW 10006 and 40 et 8 (American Legion Post 88), both in Fort Wayne, American Legion Post 160 in Roanoke and a member of First Brethren Church, Huntington.

He was born April 9, 1942, in Huntington, to Jack and Betty Adams Waikel. He married Alice DeWitt on Nov. 23, 1965, and she survives.

Additional survivors include three sons, Rick (Carmen) Waikel and Scott (Ashley) Waikel, both of Huntington, and Rodney Waikel, of Peru; a daughter, Deb (Brad) Princell, of Markle; a sister, Karen Sue Wilson, of Newago, MI; 10 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Calling is Sunday, Jan. 14, 2018, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. , with a funeral service to follow at 4 p.m., at McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, Huntington. Rev. Gus Hacker will officiate. A private burial will be held at a later date.
