Reta O. Sindelar

Reta O. Sindelar, 82, of Huntington, IN, died Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2018, at 8:08 a.m. at her daughter’s residence in Roanoke, IN.                                               

Mrs. Sindelar grew up in Central City, NE, and was a 1953 graduate of Nebraska Central City High School.  After living in both Lincoln and Omaha, NE, the family moved to Huntington, in 1972.  She was an administrative assistant at Wabash Technologies for 20 years, retiring in 1996.  She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Huntington.

Mrs. Sindelar belonged to WIBC for many years and was a member of the Red Hat Society. She also played and coached girls’ softball for many years in Nebraska and in Huntington.

She was born Aug. 28, 1935, in Chapman, NE, to George Washington and Pearl Emick Steuben. She married William Sindelar on July 3, 1954, and he preceded her in death on Oct. 9, 2001.  

She is survived by a son, Rick W. (Sandra) Sindelar, of Fort Myers, FL; three daughters, Renee’ (John) Lillard, of Omaha, NE; Lori (David) Sprunger, of Fort Wayne; and Kathleen S. (Ed) Vessels, of Roanoke; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Calling is Sunday, Jan. 7, 2017, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, Huntington. A private burial will be held at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Huntington, at a later date.
