Mary Jane Forrester, 92, of rural Lagro, IN, and having several ties to Huntington County, IN, died Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2017, at 5:30 p.m. at her home.
Mrs. Forrester was a 1942 graduate of Lagro High School. She was the secretary for Lagro Elementary and Sharp Creek Elementary schools for more than 20 years. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Huntington and a longtime member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Lagro. She was also a member of the Lagro Century Club and served as treasurer for the Friends of Saint Patrick for several years.
She was born Dec. 25, 1924, in Lagro to Mark and Anne Noonan Devine. She married George Forrester at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Lagro on July 26, 1947. He preceded her in death on Oct. 5, 1995.
She is survived by two sons, John (Gayle) Forrester and Stan (Peggy) Forrester, both of Lagro; two daughters, Jane (Mike) Hatton, of Huntington, and Melissa (Andy) Robertson, of Frankfort; a sister, Judy Cleaver of Stuart, FL; a brother, Joe Devine of Lagro; a sister-in-law, Mary Jo Devine, of Rome City; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Calling is Friday, Dec. 8, 2017, from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Ave., Wabash, with a prayer service following at 7 p.m. A funeral service will be Saturday, Dec. 9, 2017, at 1 p.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Lagro, with Rev. Stephin Colchin officiating. Burial will be in St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery, Lagro.
